The Greater Heights Learning Academy is a school designated for special needs students. We exclusively enroll students with special needs with evidence of category eligibility in accordance with special education guidelines. (See our Special Education policy, available here as an Adobe document.) Challenges span a wide range of barriers to learning.
PLEASE NOTE – We cannot accept children with severe behaviour such as:
- H designated students for severe behaviour
- children who are a danger to themselves or others
- children who are aggressive, bite, kick, scratch etc. on a continual basis
We do not, at present, have facilities to assist students who have a significant sensory neural hearing loss, nor those who are profoundly deaf (Categories F and B).
While we do have a highly trained staff of teachers, therapists and assistants, we are not equipped as a school to deal with extremely severe behaviour. We have many extremely fragile children, both emotionally and physically; we cannot have students that would be a danger to them or their mental or physical health.
If families fail to disclose the true nature of their child’s behaviour or diagnosis before admission, we retain the right as a school to dismiss the child without notice. Also, if the student is deemed unmanageable due to behavioural concerns during the first month of school, and/or during the trial period set by the school, we retain the right, as a school, to dismiss the child without notice.
For the full set of admission criteria, please see our Admission Policy criteria (available as an Adobe document).
