School Counselling can be defined as a type of psychotherapy offered at
schools to students, parents and other caregivers, aiming to help
students’ academic, personal, social and career adjustment, development
and achievements, within a psychotherapeutic relationship of care.
Counselling focuses on improving well-being, alleviating distress and
maladjustment, and resolving crises—and addresses issues from
individual, family, group, systems, and organizational perspectives. The
counsellor has received professional education.
The counsellor does 1-1 and group sessions on such topics as puberty, social skills, empathy etc.
We use the Open Parachute programming and Erase recommended by the BC Ministry of Education.
