The Greater Heights Learning Academy PAC is the school’s parent organization. They operate in a different capacity from a public school PAC. They are not an advisory committee to the school, but instead the GHLA Parent Assistance Committee (PAC) aims to support students and faculty of Greater Heights Learning Academy in a collaborative effort to create a positive educational experience for both students and families via activities which nurture inclusion, understanding and appreciation.
Typically they meet on a Monday evening – usually the second or third Monday in the month – at 6:30 pm via Zoom. The school office will email out PAC meeting reminders and times to the parents about 1 week before the meeting date. Information will also be posted on our parent board in the front hall.
Over the past years, our PAC have funded music equipment, computers, laptops, sensory room equipment and supported field trips and more. However, due to various precautions during COVID, our range of activities has been much reduced, making each remaining event even more essential.
ALL parents are welcome to come to the PAC meetings. The principal attends to receive updates and information from the PAC and see how the school and PAC can support each other. The PAC itself chooses its meeting dates and coordinates the events / fundraisers (such as hot lunches, pancake breakfast, bake sales) with the principal. The PAC applies for Gaming money and has accounts which are monitored and accounted for by the treasurer to the parent group.
